Straight from the horse’s mouth

Who can object to a champagne breakfast and an excuse to pamper yourself silly? Even though an hour under the sunshine and you’ll have no makeup left to show for it (got to love the Australian ‘winter’ weather).

Ladies, it’s races season – and we all know what that means! Finding the perfect dress that is both comfortable & striking, waking up at the crack of dawn, and kick starting the festivities while still tasting this morning’s toothpaste.

In a head office filled with fashion crazy, celebratory loving, accessory fanatics – we thought it wise to each style our ideal races outfit, and share with you a little tip for the day. Our number one reminder is to BE PREPARED! It’s a long day, so you need to pack wisely & accordingly. We’ve hinted some suggestions below that any lady heading to a day at the races should never go without!

“No matter how much it hurts DO NOT take off those heels girl! No body admires the bare foot babe with the undeniably defeated look in her eyes. Don’t forget to honour the tradition and make a bet! It is the races after all.” Kerry Miles, Regional Manager.

“For me, the best races accessories are blotting tissues, band aids and neurofen. It’s a long day, and those super cute stilettos you just bought will not fly on the grass (trust me). Also, despite popular opinion, a head piece is not a necessity. If it doesn’t work, don’t push it… Some people were just not meant to wear fascinators (again, trust me).” Holly, E-Commerce Captain.

“I’d rather look a little more casual than overly dressy at the races – so for me that means ankle boots. You can still look races-worthy (without the insanely sore feet) by opting for a cute pair of boots. Tan accessories with white lace is my favourite daytime look.” Sophie, Graphic and Creative designer.

“Forget the dress, it’s all about the perfect jacket! You should always remember to wear a nice structured blazer or tailored lapel for the inevitable chill after the sun peaks. And make sure it matches the dress! This way you remain classy for the races occasion, and don’t have to be that girl shivering and complaining in the bare minimum.” Paige, content creator.

Red Wine is never a good idea when there is an event and you want to stay stainless! And a little side note, bringing a spare eye lash glue never went astray!” Eby, Media Assistant.

“WELL, THANKS FOR SPANKS!!! The gods really did answer our prayers when they invented these figure hugging babies; allowing all the more room for outfit options without emphasising our newly found winter curves. So my best tip would be to to tie your completed outfit together with a good old pair of spanks!” Jo Jo, customer service superstar.

“Let’s cut to the chase: bring cash (the surroundings make it too easy to max out your cards!) and don’t peak too early! No one wants to be making irresponsible decisions before 10am! Jasmine, 2IC.

“The best thing I ever did at the races was order an Uber! Without trying to endorse the company and defame others; Ubers saved my life! (slightly dramatic, but it certainly saved me a LOT of time!) Walking out of the event tired, hungry and in all kinds of pain- the last thing I wanted to do was stand in a three hour line waiting for a cab. So I booked an Uber, skipped past the plebs and jumped on in. Winning! But keep it classy, you don’t want to jeopardise your star rating.”  Nikki, PR & Media Coordinator.

nikkkiNikki has fused this season’s favourite colour cream, with the simply elegant Ophelia dress.

Something we can all agree on is to try something different! If you’ve always praised the brave for teaming tassels on patterns on metallics – take the leap! The races are a time to showcase your individuality, and being the fashion forward event that it is, when else will you find an occasion to break the boundaries?
