Whip your winter wardrobe into shape

Get digging girls! It’s time to recall the old coats and long lost stockings you’ve kept buried under your summer dresses and recreate your winter wardrobe.

At Mura HQ we believe in sharing the love, so we thought we would pass on a few of this seasons top trends and helpful tips to minimise those guilting costs of an entirely new closet (you’re welcome).

As any good stylist knows, the secret to the perfect winter outfit is always in the layering.

Take your ‘model-off-duty’ look for example. A pair of white jeans and a neutral top can quickly become white jeans & a neutral top layered with a long white overcoat, and a neutral toned scarf to tie it all together. Oh, and you can never go wrong with a felt fedora to really complete the look.

Take it from our director and senior stylist Asako Nakamura who says, “Layering is the best way to add dimensions to your outfit; by adding textures and different tones, you can recreate an entire outfit.”

Embrace it! The Australian winter is here and gone before you can even say trench coat, so you’ve got to optimise every frosty opportunity you can!

This season one of our favourite bandwagons to jump on is the eternally loveable knit! Think turtle necks, cable knits & uber plush fabrics that should be paired with a cup of tea. They are the item of the season. As sported by our girl Michaela, the turtle neck has been redesigned from traditional norms and worn as the perfect winter dress too.

Minimalism is also a reoccurring trend that we’re crushing on here at Mura HQ.
And on that note, we’re bringing back K.I.S.S – keep it simple silly*
**Fabulous! Squeals your wallet.

So rather than purchasing that busy blouse that exceeds your weekly budget in an impulsive rush to fill your closet (we can all relate), prioritise buying the neutral tones that you can re-wear without being busted for repeat offending.

Other trends surfacing this season include cocoon silhouettes, androgynous shapes, fur coats and the return 70’s!

These trends had us so excited, we’ve wasted no time in incorporating them into our latest looks. Take a look below if you’re feeling likewise inspired.
